New year. New fights. Big vision.
as we Kiwis slowly emerge from our long summer slumber, sunburnt, slightly overweight, and wondering why everything feels turned up to 11, it’s hard not to feel like the world is in full chaos mode.
Kidnapped dictators. Overthrown regimes. Another Avatar movie. Even an All Blacks coach getting fired.
What a time to be alive.
But while the noise keeps getting louder, PILLAR is starting 2026 with clarity and focus.
Our 3 priority campaigns for 2026
This year, we’re concentrating on three key campaigns:
Digital Freedom, Privacy and Government Surveillance
Foreign Interference and Transnational Repression.
The 2026 General Election.
These are not the only things we will do. We will still respond to urgent threats as they arise, support individuals through legal disputes, host events, and keep building the PILLAR community.
But these priority campaigns keep us grounded and on track, so we can make real impact, not just commentary. They also show what’s possible when people are informed, engaged, and willing to take responsibility.
Together, we can push back on threats to civil liberties, rebuild a stronger society, and make New Zealand a world leader in freedom.
You can see full breakdowns, including why these campaigns matter, what we are doing, and how you can get involved, on our social media channels and on the Campaigns tab of our website.
Thank you, seriously.
We’re excited to take you on the journey this year. Your support genuinely means the world.

Why PILLAR exists
At PILLAR, we envision a culture that cherishes freedom, a system that prioritises liberty, and people who recognise the innate value and dignity in one another.
We fight for individual liberty by restoring and strengthening the pillars of democracy: freedom of speech, conscience, thought, inquiry, religion, assembly, and the right to privacy, through courtroom action, legislative reform, public campaigns, and community mobilisation.
Our mission is simple: we stand firm so every New Zealander can stand free.
Friend, 2026 is not a year to sit back If anything, it’s a year to lean in. We’ll be on the front lines, and we hope to see you there too.
Onward,
